Al Jadīdān: The Cycle of Day and Night

The Story

The eternal cycle of day and night is one of the most mentioned miracles in the Holy Quran, with more than 20 references, as in:

"Behold! in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of night and day,- there are indeed Signs for men of understanding"

In the Arabic language there many words describing the extraordinary nuance of the different times of the day. In this art print, we map the most common words onto the 24 hours.

The design was based on an Islamic geometric pattern to reflect the cosmological order behind the day and night cycle.
